This annex applies to additional devices attached to or integrated in residual current operated circuit-breakers without integral overcurrent protection (RCCBs) according to clause 1. Such additional devices enlarge the defined functions of the RCCB. This standard does not apply to additional devices producing a conventional tripping current via the protective conductor (PE) in order to cause the RCCB to operate. The objective of the annex is to maintain the protective function of the RCCB even though the function of the integrated or external additional device is not described in greater detail.
