Side lock pins are mainly used to secure and hold pressure pads and strippers in large stamping and forming dies. They are backups in the case of break or failure of other or similar retaining elements. This standard describes the different designs of side lock pins for large stamping and forming dies, their dimensioning and examples for the right installation in the die. The standard is meant for designers of larger stamping and forming dies. Due to design-changes of the pins and their range of use, as well as new approaches in the dynamic dimensioning of side lock pins in large stamping and forming dies the standard was updated.
