The standard supports engineering organisations to identify and select appropriate measures for a targeted development of the engineering organization. These measures are based on the technical, organizational and economic environment of the engineering organization and are selected on the basis of a classification. The standard supplements VDI/VDE 3695 Part 1 and focuses on the organizational structure of the engineering organization. The organizational structure forms the hierarchical structure of an organization and determines the framework conditions for duties and responsibilities of the staff and material expenses.
