The document supplements the general AGVS guide-line, VDI 2510. It deals with the sensor level, focusing on the use in automated guided vehicles (AGV). Its contents are closely related to Parts 4 (control structure) and 5 (interface between command initiator and AGVS control) of the AGVS compatibility guideline, VDI 4451. The stationary AGVS components, insofar as they are not used by the vehicle sensor (such as marks), and the actuators of the AGV are not considered in this guideline. The guideline has been drafted with the intention to compile the requirements to be met by AGV sensor systems in accordance with laws and regulations, and to explain the sensor systems used in automated guided vehicle systems.
