A wide variety of materials are used to create dust effects in motion picture and television production, and also in live theatrical productions and theme parks. The use of dust aerosols raises concerns for potential hazards, including combustibility and health effects from inhalation or ingestion, which are not necessarily well understood in the live entertainment industry. This E1.40 document would provide recommendations for how to plan dust effects that are likely to be safe.
