This standard defines basic terms and individual terms for reproduction technology and explains them in accordance with the latest state of the art and terminological principles whereby deficiencies in existing language usage are eliminated as far as possible. Basic repro-photographic terms will contrinue to be used as long as they contribute to the understanding of digital processes that have replaced them. This standard is intended to standardize technical terminology within the defined framework in order to ensure the unambiguous use of technical terms in industry, training and science.
